About Me
Combining years of executive leadership with an incomparable sense for business, Victor Hogstrom has achieved a significant level of success over the course of his broadcasting career. Most recently employed as the CEO and President of Kansas City Public Television (KCPT), Hogstrom's strategic business acumen and precise management played a highly important part in turning the stations fiscal problems around and cementing its place in the community as The Voice and Platform of Kansas City, a programming theme which he introduced as a major part of his marketing strategy.
In his position as CEO and President of KCPT, Victor Hogstrom was tasked with the total management of the stations marketing, sales, and fundraising operations. Despite the station having suffered losses for four consecutive years prior to his arrival, Hogstrom tackled each of his responsibilities with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and brought KCPT into positive and sustained profit in less than 12 months on the job. In three short years, Hogstrom greatly enhanced the image of KCPT, created higher visibility and greater brand recognition through his marketing skills. The last two fiscal years saw even greater financial success through Hogstrom's sales, fundraising and marketing expertise. Additional accomplishments achieved by the station under his guidance include a number of regional Emmy Awards, Missouri Broadcasters Awards, NETA Award as well as maintaining a significant weekly viewership, 450,000 households on average. Hogstrom, with his development team and a community team of volunteers, spearheaded the station's fundraising efforts to upgrade all of the production and broadcast equipment to the latest in digital technology.
Prior to his successful stewardship of KCPT, this self-motivated CEO held several leadership positions at public television stations across the country. Beginning his career as the General Manager of WPTI-TV in Rockford, IL, he quickly showed his capabilities in developing interesting programming and restructuring outdated business models. From WPTI-TV, Hogstrom assumed the position of President and General Manager of KIXE-TV in Redding, CA before moving on to become President and CEO of WTCI-TV in Chattanooga, TN. "I'm now ready for a new and exciting challenge", says Hogstrom. What is his number one interest as he heads a company? Hogstrom replied, "It is the overall growth, advancement, development and success of the organization that I lead".
Hogstrom is highly admired and respected for his fundraising and sales ability.
Highly involved in contributing to the development of his community, Victor Hogstrom is a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International and was formerly a board member of both the Kansas City and the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce. Some of his other philanthropic and community-centered efforts include volunteering time and donations to the Salvation Army and shelters for the needy. Currently, Hogstrom also serves on the Executive Boards of the Heart of America Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
