My Experience

I am a co-founder at justFDI and HereToNetwork, my first two companies, where I break things and cause chaos.
Communities and networks are hugely important to me, so I help to run The Entrepreneur Network and Im an evangelist at Launch48.
Im a self-taught ICT techie, self-confessed motorbike nut, DnB raver, wannabe journo and ale drinker. Im interested in identity, affiliation, and social capital.

I approached Spode towards the end of my Masters in International Business Management with the idea of starting a company together. Impressed by his original concept and his passion for developing JournoTwit, I saw the potential it had for targeting a niche audience in an industry that is experiencing radical evolution.

I am proud to describe justFDI as a small team of enthusiastic and insightful minds who work well together towards helping others and generally striving to improve the way we all experience the real-time web. HereToNetwork

What began at the Birmingham Launch48 event as a solution to one problem:

I hate showing up to events knowing there are some potentially great connections to be made, but leaving with a handful of useless business cards from people I met randomly, like the guy in the cloakroom queue.

HereToNetwork is developing a solution to optimise connections between exhibitors and attendees. Development is ongoing, but you can keep up with progress through our blog.

I jumped at the opportunity to work at this startup, with its vision so personally relevant to me. I wrote a postgraduate dissertation on the quality of networking and the development of social capital, so I am able to draw on my deep understanding of the subject.
