Martijn Bevelander was born and raised in Haarlem, The Netherlands. He attended school locally, at Sancta Maria Atheneum and Eerste Christelijk Lyceum. In 1997, at the age of 17, Martijn Bevelander founded two of The Netherlands most popular Internet ventures, Bevelander Internet Services and ChatPlaza.nl. Bevelander Internet Services remained in business from 1997 to 2002, during which time it became one of the largest and most popular Internet service providers in The Netherlands. However, it closed in 2002. ChatPlaza.nl is still in business today, over 11 years after it first went live. Though it first only hosted chat functions, ChatPlaza is now home to blogging, dating/personals, social networking, and gaming features. In 2005, in order to help ChatPlaza remain on the cusp of Internet technology, Martijn Bevelander founded StayClose B.V., a social networking site that also hosts photo sharing, viral videos, news, and music sharing. StayClose B.V. was created as a partner site to ChatPlaza, and today, the two are interconnected. Persons wishing to set up a profile page on ChatPlaza are directed to StayClose, and the functionalities of both sites are interchangeable within each other. In addition to running two extremely popular web destinations, Martijn Bevelander is also the owner and operator of Haarlems Club Delirium, a popular discotheque that features dancing and drinks. Though Martijn Bevelander did not found it, Club Delirium is another one of his success stories. In 2003, when he purchased the club, it was already well established in the Haarlem community. Unfortunately, however, the club was struggling to keep its doors open and teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. Martijn Bevelander changed all that. He not only rescued the club financially but also made numerous improvements to it, encouraging patrons back onto its once-deserted dance floors. Today, Club Delirium is one of Haarlems top nightclubs and shows no signs of slowing down, much like its owner Martijn Bevelander, who continues to live life as he always has: 2 the max!
