Mark Donohue was the sole founder of Expansion Capital Partners, LLC, in 2001. The firm was a pioneering investor in Clean Technology and manages over $100,000,000. In June 2008, Mr. Donohue was appointed the Chairman Emeritus of Expansion Capital Partners, upon the sale of his controlling interests in the firm.
Mr. Mark Donohue graduated from the nations number one ranked business school for entrepreneurship, Babson College, in December 1988. Since graduation, he has been involved in building over twenty entrepreneurial for-profit companies and many social enterprises. In college, Donohue was an Honors Graduate in Investment Management, where he served in the leadership of four clubs, played two sports (golf & squash) and won several awards. Between 1985 and 1988, the high-achieving student became an officer of the Babson Entrepreneurial Exchange, ran for Student Government President, was active in Alumni Relations, wrote a weekly investments column for the Free Press, acted as VP of Society for Advancement of Management, and was one of two Student Representatives to the Trustees. In addition, he received the Class of 1949 Scholarship and came in fifth place in the prestigious Charm Prize Business Plan Competition.
After graduating, Mark Donohue continued to remain active in his alma mater. In 1994, Mr. Donohue personally founded and funded Babson College's first forum on Socially Responsible Business and established and chaired the Cruickshank Volunteer Fund, which pays for community service projects of Babson College students and faculty members. Since 2002, Mr. Donohue has been a Member of the colleges Board of Overseers and has spoken at more than a dozen student and alumni events. He has also been a mentor to many students.
In June 2008, Mr. Donohue was appointed Babson Colleges first Clean Technology Entrepreneur-in-Residence. He is primarily teaching, and conducting research, within the Olin Graduate School and Arthur Blank Center for Entrepreneurship, yet he will also lecture in the executive education and undergraduate programs.
Beyond his commitment to his alma mater, the socially conscious Donohue supports many environmental education organizations such as Bioneers, the Rainforest Action Network and Natural Resources Defense Counsel. He has also served on the board of four non-profits. He believes that non-profits are essential partner in solving many of societys deepest problems.
