About Me
Mark Chasan takes a process-driven approach to business and aims to develop companies that are groundbreaking and valuable in their purpose and direction. From digital media and ecommerce to strategic advice and financial services, Chasan has built and sold three companies, taking one of them, Emusic, successfully from private-to-public. Mr. Chasans latest enterprise, Transformative Capital, is making headlines as a premier strategy service firm for environmentally minded companies. Mark Chasan developed Transformative Capital in 2007, which focuses on providing clean technology firms and other sustainable businesses with the tools they need to achieve success by providing these companies with the ability to obtain the capital, human, technology and market resources they need for their sustained growth. Chasan oversees the operations as CEO, including deal development and structure, finance, marketing, and general consulting. Chasans interest and investment in the environment began professionally when he started Fin-Tech in 1985. Chasan developed a business model of reusing high solids V.O.C. paint in the appliance and furniture industries, preventing the hazardous waste from ending up in landfills. Chasan also acts as an advisory board member of the non-profit forum Sustainable Business Council, where Chasan strives to educate business leaders and encourage them to adopt sustainable practices within their companies. Chasan is also a supporter of the Green for All, Green Technology Institute, Sierra Club, NRDC and Heal the Bay. Before his work at Transformative Capital, Mark Chasan created the first online retail site for downloadable music, Emusic, in 1995. As CEO, Chasan grew Emusic into a premier music and entertainment superstore. In 1999, Emusic merged with Goodnoise, having reached a market value of $500 million. Chasan graduated from Western State University with his Juris Doctorate. He is licensed to practice law in the state of California. In his spare time, Chasan enjoys creating and listening to music, surfing, skiing, playing golf, running, biking, and hiking. Chasan provides mentoring services for MBA students at Pepperdine University and is a highly sought-after speaker on various topics including business, finance, cleantech and law.
