About Me
With significant experience in the fields of research and patient care, Kimberly Petrovic applies her expertise to roles as an instructor and researcher. A Ph.D. candidate at the University of Connecticut, Ms. Petrovic teaches nursing and related courses there and at Yale University School of Nursing. She also works as a Researcher at Hartford Hospital, maintaining efforts in gerontology and geriatrics as well as with patients with special medical needs, including those with AIDS and HIV. Prior to undertaking her doctoral coursework in Connecticut, Kimberly Petrovic held a fellowship at Oregon Health Sciences University.
The author and co-author of numerous papers, Kimberly Petrovic also embarked on a collective effort with colleagues at the University of Connecticut that resulted in the book entitled Resource Inventory for Geriatric Education in the State of Connecticut. The book, which was published in 2006 by the Connecticut Geriatric Education Consortium, came about as a result of a grant from the Rhode Island Geriatric Education Consortium. Written with the assistance of a professor and a graduate student, the book and coordinating website compiled all of the states educational and community resources for geriatric patients.
Kimberly Petrovic also hosted discussions as part of the Brown Bag Lunch Series for the University of Connecticuts Center of Aging and Human Development, including the lecture, Delirium in Hospitalized Older Adults. She also presented papers at the Scientific Meeting of the Gerontological Society of America, serving as Chairperson for the event. An active member of her department at the University of Connecticut, Kimberly Petrovic became the Vice President of the Mu Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
With interests in global issues that affect people physically and psychologically, Kimberly Petrovic serves as a member of the Gerontological Society of Americas Task Force on Issues Affecting Minority Populations. She spoke at the 2007 and 2008 national conferences of Americans for Informed Democracy Research on HIV/AIDS and supports AIDS relief efforts around the world.
