After an eight-year term at Lloyds of London, financial professional Keith Smaldon entered the American insurance market. Holding a certification in Risk Management and Commercial Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute in London, England, Keith Smaldon began a partnership with Schiff Terhune, Inc. in New York and became CEO and President of Eagle Intermediaries from 1980 to 1984. RFC Intermediaries (part of St. Paul Companies) recruited Keith Smaldon to serve as Senior Vice President of their office in New York. For the next five years, Keith Smaldon thrived in his role with RFC Intermediaries and earned accreditation in U.S. Commercial, Marine, and Personal Lines Insurance from the College of Insurance (now SRM at St. Johns University), while at the same time expanding RFC's New York Office into Retrocession Treaty Arrangements, Lloyd's Underwriters Reinsurance (marine and non-marine) reinsurances, increased capacity for Syndicates at the New York Insurance Exchange while producing unprecedented revenue and profit growth. Keith Smaldon moved in 1989 to take a position with Sedgwick (Marsh, Inc.) as Commercial Lines Manager and Business Development Manager of Northern New England. Sedgwick again promoted Keith Smaldon in 1994 to Business Development Director and Managing Director of the New England Region. Working both in Boston, Massachusetts, and Portland, Maine, Keith Smaldon managed a staff of 300 professionals in 10 divisions and redirected Sedgwicks interests to handle workers compensation, property/casualty, and executive risk insurance. Over the course of his tenure with Sedgwick, Keith Smaldon increased the companys annual revenues to $30 million and grew profits by wide margins. In 2000, Keith Smaldon became President, CEO, and Business Development Director of Hays Companies in Boston. Handling multiple aspects of company operations, Smaldon managed the start up, business development, and staffing of the Boston office for six years and clients included major players in the healthcare, energy, and real estate business. Keith Smaldon brought unprecedented success to Hays Companies and retained close to 100 percent of the organizations clientele. Keith Smaldon accepted a position as Senior Vice President and Business Development Director at Mazonson LLC in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Recognizing his superlative performance in this role, USI/ Goldman Sachs Capital Partners hired Keith Smaldon in April 2009 as Senior Vice President of Business Development, a position he continues to hold.
