Weel versed Maori culture as well as financial matters for individuals and businesses, Denise Te Karu is a highly respected consultant whose services are sought by nonprofit and charitable organizations striving to meet their government and business obligations while still serving their constituencies. Now the Director of pa2 Limited, a consulting company for non-profit organisations and individuals, Denise Te Karu is a graduate of Waikato University in New Zealand, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts with first class honors. Denise Te Karu also holds a Bachelor of Arts from Canterbury University. Having earned a Level Four Certificate in Te Arataki Manu Korero from Te Wananga o Aotearoa, a study of Maori culture that includes Maori traditions and practical contributions of Maori people in business environments, Denise Te Karu has singular expertise in working with Maori people in New Zealand. Denise Te Karus impressive record of service includes positions such as Assistant Lecturer of Teo Reo Maori language classes at Lincoln University Centre for Maori Studies and Research and Parliamentary Officer for Select Committees. In the latter position, Denise Te Karu served as a report writer for select committees including Maori Affairs, Local Government and Environment and Social Services. In 2006, Inland Revenue hired Denise Te Karu as a Debt and Returns Officer. In this capacity, Denise Te Karu served as a liaison between tax officials and individuals or companies, advising the latter about their tax requirements and helping them devise payment plans for any outstanding taxes they might owe. After one year of service to Inland Revenue, Denise Te Karus knowledge of Maori customs and culture was recognized. The organization promoted her to the post of Maori Community Officer. This crucial position enabled Denise Te Karu to work with Maori individuals and organizations to ensure their understanding of tax law and new tax initiatives.
