About Me
Jeff Dion has taken great strides in widening the scope of protection given to crime victims and violent crime survivors. As the Director of the National Crime Victim Bar Association, Jeff Dion travels throughout the country speaking on behalf of victims and advocating for stronger legal protections for victims in the civil justice system. In his lectures, Jeff Dion also advocates for greater communication between trial attorneys and crime victims and a more thorough understanding of civil litigation matters for victim survivors.
A personal survivor of violent crime, Jeff Dion was an advocate for victims rights long before joining the National Center for Victims of Crime. At the age of 14, Jeff lost his older sister, Paulette, to murder. Out of this tragedy, Jeff Dion saw an opportunity to help other crime victims and their families. From that point forward, Jeff Dion worked tirelessly for recognition of the legal rights of crime victims. Eventually, Jeff Dion found success in his mission with the passing of 13 laws specially designed to provide greater power to crime victims during criminal trials, protect crime victims from future persecution and attack, and an expansion of the legal definition for the term victim.
Jeff Dion formerly served as a Governor's Fellow in the Office of the Virginia Attorney General. In this role, Jeff Dion contributed to criminal trial preparation, defining policy positions and drafting litigation documents. Jeff Dion was also formerly a Law Clerk for the judges of Virginia's 17th Judicial Circuit and a civil litigator with the law firm Hudgins, Carter & Coleman. Prior to beginning his career, Jeff Dion received his Bachelors degree and Juris Doctorate from George Mason University.
