I was involved in real estate on Kauai as an agent / sales manager / BIC for Century 21 from 2001-2005. I set up their office in Kapa'a in 2003, and then was the broker for the Princeville location until August 2005 (leading the office to #1 in sales on Kauai). In addition to management tasks, I was directly involved in the planning, sales & development of several condo projects on Kauai, including the Villas on the Prince, Villas of Kamali'i, Villas at Puali, and Ka'iulani of Princeville.



I still have many friends and real estate contacts on Kauai ----- although I sold my Haena home several months ago, I still get to Kauai as often as I can!



In September 2005, I moved to the Big Island and started my current real estate company, Island Trust Properties. We opened two offices initially; our main location in downtown Hilo and another in Papa'aloa (Hamakua). In November 2005 our third office opened in downtown Pahoa (Puna). Due to lease issues, the Papa'aloa location was closed this past July, however we are exploring options for opening another Hamakua Coast office in the first half of 2008.



Our success has been fantastic thus far; starting with $3.8M in sales in 2005, $33.6M in 2006, and in 2007 we finished with $51.5M (224 sides). Our 2007 sales volume placed us 15th out of over 300 firms doing business on the Big Island last year. Our goal for 2008 is to end up in the top 10!



At this time, Island Trust Properties has 25 agents, split between our Hilo and Pahoa locations. We currently have 137 active listings, totaling $31M. Our listings and sales cover the entire Big Island, from Kau to Waimea (and all points in-between). Our staff specializes in everything from $10K lots in Puna to ultra-luxury multi-million dollar North Kohala properties. We represent several clients with extensive land holdings, and assist with entitlement and subdivision issues.



Many of our agents were born in Hawaii, and some have been in real estate sales on the Big Island for over 20 years. We have considerable experience with both State and County land use & zoning requirements, including Conservation, Oceanfront, Flood, Volcano Zone, and SMA issues. Our relationships with lenders, appraisers, surveyors, contractors, inspectors and other service providers contributes to smoother transactions. Truly we are "area experts", with additional skills & resources to provide direction to our clients for initial purchase, land use, development, etc.



In addition to our residential and land sales, we are also a leader in Big Island Commercial sales and leasing, especially in the Hilo and Pahoa areas. Although we are not engaged in residential short or long-term rentals, we have developed exclusive relationships with companies that specialize in these areas, and enjoy considerable referral business between our firms.



When I first became a broker, I made a conscious decision to place my personal sales career on hold; I believe that a broker's focus should be on the agents & their clients. To this day, the Island Trust Properties PB is not in competition with sales agents; all leads are provided to company agents. We have an open, collaborative environment in our offices; our staff knows that there's plenty of opportunity for everyone, and 'helping' or sharing information doesn't diminish one's business --- in fact, it increases! We enjoy providing our agents with constant training, the best technical tools, and fun places to do business.
