About Me
Harvey Manes has an astounding amount of titles associated with his name. He is not only a successful doctor who owns his own Orthopedics and Physical Therapy practice, but also an avid art collector, sculptor, philanthropist and attorney who specializes in Art Law. Although most of these elements have no common denominator, Manes is able to intertwine these entities together in his life.
Harvey Manes earned his M.D. from Downstate Medical School, and then went on to open his own private practice specializing in orthopedics and has been serving the Long Island community for the past 25 years. In the last 20 years he served as a clinical instructor at the Nassau County University Hospital, where he taught orthopedic surgery to residents, and became a pioneer in the joint replacement surgery industry. Dr. Manes was the first orthopedic surgeon to implant a total elbow replacement and total ankle replacement in the Tri State Area of New York. He has made numerous contributions to orthopedics, including the publication of more than a dozen articles. Manes then went on to law school at Hofstra Universitys School of Law. After winning the New York State Bar Associations EASLs writing competition on fine art theft and fraud, he then decided to specialize in being an attorney for Art Law. Since then, he has found himself heavily involved in the art world as a collector and an advocate for artists against abuse as well as on the council for the Nassau Museum of Art.
Aside from art, one of Dr. Manes true passions is the foundation that he created called Manes Peace Prize. This admirable organization is an attempt to promote peace and good will throughout the world. Dr. Manes awards one individual or organization that is doing exactly this, contributing to the promotion of peace or good will in the world.
