About Me

Dr. Griff Harsh completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard College, from which he graduated summa cum laude. Subsequently, he traveled to England to earn his Masters degree, as a Rhodes Scholar, from Oxford University. He then returned to the United States to enroll at Harvard Medical School where he earned a Doctor of Medicine degree. Several years later, Dr. Harsh earned a Master of Business Administration from Boston University.

After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Griff Harsh accepted an internship in surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He spent the following five years with the medical center as a resident in neurological surgery. During this period, Dr. Harsh also undertook research and clinical fellowships with the Brain Tumor Research Center, which receives funding from the National Institutes of Health and American Cancer Society.

Next, as a Harvey Cushing Research Fellow with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Dr. Griff Harsh continued to work at the University of California, San Francisco, teaching neurological surgery as a Clinical Instructor and, later, Assistant Professor with the school. He remained at the University for six years before joining Harvard Medical School as an Associate Professor of Surgery.

For the past 13 years, Dr. Griff Harsh has served Stanford University School of Medicine and Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, California. Starting as a Professor of Neurosurgery, he became Vice Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery in 2006. He also currently acts as Program Director for the Neurosurgery Residency Training Program, Director of Neurosurgical Oncology for the medical center, Co-Director of the Stanford Pituitary Center, and Co-Director of the Stanford Neurosurgery Clinical Guidelines and Outcomes Project. His work with the organization has earned him two Excellence in Resident Teaching Awards and recognition from Whos Who in the World, published by Marquis Who's Who LLC. In addition, Dr. Harsh has been designated one of the Top Doctors in the San Francisco Bay Area from San Francisco Magazine and one of Americas Top Doctors for Cancer by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. Dr. Griff Harsh is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners.
