George Simchuk has spent four decades in the mining industry in positions ranging from Mine Shift Foreman for the Anaconda Company to President and CEO of Pathfinder Mines Corp. Expert across all phases of operations and engineering as well as corporate development, George Simchuk possesses a strong track record in the mining, processing, and marketing of uranium, gold, copper, iron, coal, and phosphate.
At the beginning of his career, George Simchuk was a Shift Boss with the Anaconda Company in Chuquicamata, Chile. George Simchuk soon advanced to become a Chief Engineer and then departed in 1969 for Utah International, where he assumed duties as Manager of Mining Services for an engineering support group evaluating and acquiring mineral properties both in the United States and overseas.
By the end of his tenure with Utah International, George Simchuk had advanced to the role of a Project Engineer, performing feasibility studies of iron and coal mining projects on three continents. The next several years saw George Simchuk employed by Homestake Mining Company, where he project managed its emerging Pitch Mine endeavor. George Simchuk guided the Pitch Mine project through its initial stages, feasibility studies, a complicated permitting process, and the beginning of production.
After leaving Homestake Mining Company, George Simchuk established and operated Simchuk and Associates, specializing in Emergency Response Planning for medium to large mining operations. From Simchuk and Associates, George Simchuk joined Pathfinder Mines Corporation and held a series of managerial and executive roles over the next eight years before departing to become Vice President and General Manager at Minera Cerro Quema in Panama.
George Simchuk established a creditable company presence in Panama for Campbell Resources Inc. and effected a transformation of public opinion through community outreach programs. Most recently, George Simchuk served as General Manager at Glamis Golds El Sauzal mining operations. George Simchuk drove up employee morale, established open lines of communication, and returned El Sauzal operations to profitability. Currently, George Simchuk is occupied as a volunteer pilot working with conservation groups in Central America.
