Recognized by Street and Smiths Sports Business Journal for her contributions to intercollegiate athletics, Debbie Yow has ushered in unprecedented sports achievements as Director of Athletics at the University of Maryland. During Debbie Yows 16-year tenure, Terrapin teams have earned 18 national championships in their divisions. Committed to developing a well-rounded sports curriculum, Debbie Yow has managed what the NCAA News has named one of the Top 10 athletic programs in the nation.

Debbie Yow also implements comprehensive academic support services for the University of Marylands student athletes, which have resulted in more than 90 percent graduation eligibility. Under Debbie Yows leadership, the University of Maryland ranked as the sixth-finest athletic program in the United States by the Center for the Study of Intercollegiate Athletics, based on comprehensive performance and academic data. Additionally, Debbie Yow and the University of Maryland received the inaugural PRISM Award for their top-rated management of a Division I collegiate athletics program.

Respected for her management style and directive decisions, Debbie Yow hired the National Coach of the Year in womens basketball, the National Coach of the Year in mens basketball, and National Coach of the Year in football to help shape the University of Marylands successful athletic program. Debbie Yow also holds the title of the President of the national Division I-A Athletic Directors Association and previously acted as President of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. Among her accomplishments as Athletic Director, Debbie Yow reviewed the status of Federal Title IX regulations for the U.S. Department of Educations Commission on Opportunities in Athletics and regulated athletic resources for the NCAA Division I Budget Committee.

Debbie Yow came to the University of Maryland after three athletic administrative positions at Saint Louis University, the University of Florida, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. During her career, Debbie Yow accepted the Carl Maddox Sport Management Award from the United States Sports Academy for excellence in athletics administration and was distinguished as one of the Ten Most Powerful People in College Athletics/The Builder by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
