About Me

With more than 20 years of experience in the fields of social work and mental health, Ms. Ava S. Dorrance is known for professionalism, dedication to her patients, and unparalleled leadership skills. Ms. Ava S. Dorrance began her career in social work at the Covenant Medical Center, acting as the Coordinator of the Eating Disorder Program, which she herself engineered and implemented.

While at Covenant Medical Center, Ava Dorrance also helped institute an inpatient and outpatient program. Later in her career, Ava S. Dorrance created a private mental health practice as part of the Genesis Psychology Associates group practice while serving as a Psychiatric Social Worker and Therapist. During this period, Ava Dorrance also led three distinct support groups. At her most recent medical position, Ava S. Dorrance served as a Psychiatric Social Worker at the Cass County Memorial Hospital, working with behaviorally disordered adolescents and adults and creating a day program for children.

Ava Dorrance is a Certified Wellness Coach and has been trained in Advanced Ericksonian Hypnosis and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Ava Dorrance holds a Master of Social Work from The University of Iowa. After leaving her position with Cass County Memorial Hospital, Ava S. Dorrance devoted herself to caring for her parents full-time.

She resides in Iowa and enjoys spending as much time as possible with friends and family. Taking an active role in her community, Ava S. Dorrance is involved with the YMCA, the American Cancer Society, The Humane Society, and local art organizations.
